 Performing Arts

The Performing Arts Program at Meadow Springs Primary School has encouraged students to be positive participants in performance activities and improve their understanding of the creative process. Students are engaged in activities that are developing creative skills and allowing them to become critical thinkers who can view and discuss the arts with thoughtful judgment.

Meadow Springs Primary School offers a vibrant program which offers students performance opportunities as soloists, in small group ensembles and large performance teams.

Classroom lessons involve students in singing, learning to read and write music, playing classroom instruments and appreceation of classics and comtempory music styles. Students can extend their interest in music through extra curricular activities such as the Senior and Junior Choirs and instrumental lessons in Yr 6.

Drama and dance activities are also pursued during lessons and students get the opportunity to use these skills in performance activities such as the Nursey Rhyme Concert, talent shows and concerts in our local community.

Wakakirri is a national story dance festival that Meadow Springs has added to the school planner on a bi-annual basis. Students involved in this initiative have the opportunity to perform at the Regal Theatre in Perth before a large audience. We have to date performed in two Wakakirri events with success.

Performing Arts at Meadow Springs Primary School is embedded across the school curriculum with Big Sing Days, Harmony Day, School Carnivals, ANZAC Day, school assemblies and other special events.
